About Emma
One physio you'll get to know
I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2007 and have spent my career treating people in the NHS and the British Army.
My experience
Most of my work has been in musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy: helping people recover from operations, injuries and long-standing pain. I also specialise in hand therapy, treating hand and wrist problems after fractures, surgery and arthritis.
I've treated soldiers getting back to full fitness and older people recovering from joint replacements, and the approach is the same: find out what matters to you, then work steadily towards it.
Why home visits?
Getting to a clinic can be the hardest part, especially after an operation or a fall. At home, there's no travel, no waiting room, and I can see the stairs, chairs and steps you actually use every day. That means the exercises and advice fit your real life.
You'll see me every time, so you won't have to explain your story again to someone new.
Why "Dowdeswell"?
Dowdeswell is my maiden name, and it's also a village just outside Cheltenham, on the road out towards the Cotswolds. It felt right for a local business built around my own care.
